CEO Bobby Kotick put the results down to the success of Guitar Hero 5 and the franchise in general, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, the Call of Duty franchise and World Of WarCraft.

The company reports that net revenues for the quarter that ended September 30 came to US$703m, up from the company's previous outlook of US$680m. During the quarter, Activision Blizzard's report claimed that the company increased its U.S. and European share across all platforms by 1.2 points over Q3 2008 to 12.3 per cent.

Kotick added that Call Of Duty: World At War and its associated map packs have sold over 7.5 million units over the year to date.

The company's unaudited quarterly statement of operations, meanwhile, reveals that net income had risen year on year for the quarter from a loss of US$108m to a profit of US$15. Q3 2008 sales revenue was almost identical to Q3 2009, but operating costs were far lower, particularly in the company's product costs and development categories.
