Texas-based publisher Aspyr Media has reportedly let around 50 per cent of its staff go.

That’s according to sources close to Big Download, who claim that the company is now operating with just “a handful” of employees.

Formed in 1996 as a Mac developer, the company expanded to publish PC and console titles. This year it released several PC games including Star Wars The Force Unleashed Ultimate Edition, and was most recently responsible for the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network port Call Of Duty Classic.

Last December the company confirmed that it had laid off a number of staff members in light of the challenging economic climate. It was rumoured that up to a third of its workforce was let go at the time.

We’ve contacted Aspyr for comment on this report.
