Electronic Arts has announced that it is developing a new EA Sports Active game for multiple platforms, but not Xbox 360.
“Powered by new leg and arm straps with motion sensors, a heart rate monitor to capture intensity, and a new online hub to track and share workout data,” EA Sports Active 2.0 will launch for PS3, Wii, iPhone and iPod touch.
The company also said that PS3 owners will be able to download new workouts. The news follows EA Sports’ earlier announcement that the PS3 version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 will support Sony's new motion controller, but not Microsoft's Natal.
EA Sports boss Peter Moore said recently that the EA Sports Active franchise has generated $125 million for the firm since launching in May 2009.
EA are most likely working on Fitness titles for all current hardware, but not announcing the Natal version until MS start allowing Devs to show off what they've been producing for it (more than likely at one large event and all at the same time in order to maximise their "message/promotion" of the device.
everyone else on this page fails miserably at trying to fight over an IP none of you will ever buy anyways
:P
I totally agree.
I can't help but wonder if this has less to do with Project Vapor and more to do with the 360's stupid bullshit proprietary wireless protocol.
Either way I doubt this news has most 360 owners losing sleep.
This information almost didn't require an announcement, since it goes without saying. StealthBadger said it very well when he said that since Xbox doesn't have a motion controller like that it means the game wouldn't work out well on Xbox 360. There is definitely going to be a similar type of game on Natal released only for the Xbox 360. This game will be fully optimized for the much more advanced motion-sensor design of the Natal.
DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah the much more advanced slower and practically broken according to 70% of ppl that used it motion sensor design of Natal.
Not a good sign for 360 and Natal, games like this are topsellers on the Wii and an HD version on the PS3 will most likely be a big hit bc its something thats not available on the system. Things like this and the recent footage of Sonys "Arc" in motion have me anticipating the arc more and thinking less of the unproven tech that is Natal.
Shocking - rydamike prefers the Sony peripheral he hasn't tried over the MS peripheral he hasn't tried.
My prediction is this most likely won't be a big hit on PS3 - the demographic differences between Wii and PS3 (or 360 for that matter) can not be more pronounced. I suspect it's only coming to PS3 because it's easier to port to the Arc control method than Natal. There may be quite a few Wii ports going to the PS3 because of this - I'm not sure if that's necessarily a good thing.
The Wii would have been the ultimate console ever, if it had HD, hard disk, Good online capabilities. As the PS3 has the all these capabilities all Sony need to do is make killer IPs like Mario Galaxy to truly show the possibilities of the Arc.
I love the Wii all it needs are some core games with kick ass graphics, here's hoping Sony to deliver….
..
Not really shocking Grog but more like common sense weve seen alot more hands on with Sonys "Arc" and its accuracy is well known and has been documented which is completely the opposite for MSs Natal. Maybe YOU should take your fanboys glasses off once in awhile.
Precisely where have you seen hands on for Arc? Here in the US it has not been seen since last E3. However, Natal has been demonstrated on quite a few major media outlets.
Actually Grog just last night there was a preview on PS Move and now after watching GDC it further supports my opinion not only that its true 1:1 tracking meanwhile in the MS camp the majority of ppl that tried it have openly stated that there is significant lag and and that it will be difficult to make hardcore titles for it.

http://xboxevolved.e-mpire.com/article/Project_Natal/6074.html
Yes, last night because it was finally shown (but not hands on) at GDC. You said it had been demonstrated throughout the past year more than Natal - so where are those links?
The point is you're showing your inherent bias as no one knows what these systems will do until they're actually released to the public. In reality, neither of these systems will have applications to show off what they're capable of for 6-12 months after release - if either of them even captures enough attention to warrant further development from third parties beyond that point.
Wow I love how Im "showing my bias" yet have perfectly valid reasons for "my bias" . The fact is Grog it has been WELL documented that Move is true 1:1 tracking meanwhile it is also well known that at this point in time Natal has significant lag problems as stated on a 360 website I posted earlier. So with that WELL KNOWN information I have currently based my opinion on the perephrial that is currently more accurate. Who knows that may change in the future but as of right now I prefer the move over Natal due to the current information out. To sit here and basically say your bias bc you like this over this and there both not released yet is simply ridiculous givin the current information out it is quite obvious what the better perephrial is.
Fanboy dick states:
"yet have perfectly valid reasons for my bias"
Any dictionary in the world states:
Bias: a term used to describe a tendency or preference towards a particular perspective, ideology or result, when the tendency interferes with the ability to be impartial, unprejudiced, or objective. In other words, bias is generally seen as a 'one-sided' perspective.
Do you know that just because you use caps, it doesn't make your lies become the truth?
So tell me what my "lies" were exspecially since I can post numerous sources backing up my "LIES" some of those sources are straight from 360 sites.
If you head over to kotaku now there're plenty of hands ons in video and report form. The one on Socom 4 looks particularly cool.
it will be difficult to make hardcore titles for it
You read one article where somebody offered that opinion, the same article that also stated:
However, Burton has not seen a final version of Natal, as Microsoft looks to tweak the device before its ‘November’ launch.
“The software behind Natal stunned me,” added Burton. “To be able to take effectively a bump-map of a person and turn that into a fully articulated and rigged polygonal skeleton is an incredible feat. We run a mo-cap studio and to get anything resembling mo-cap, live in real-time, from effectively a single camera is nothing short of amazing.”
Christ, you're worse than Alastair Campbell.
Trust me, if they release 'Hardcore' titles for either tech, it will fail, how many FPS titles have been successful on the wii. Screw it, how successful was Nights?
People like the pad for FPS, motion control doesn't bring anything to the table, and I pity anybody who attempts to use it in mutiplayer.
was that nights on wii any good keeyop?
I may be slightly biased as I love the original, but I really liked it, It's was everything that it should have been (bar a couple of ropey cut scenes), If they had released the game on either the 360 or PS3 then you can't help think it would have sold better just because of the market it's aimed at. Although the one bonus with using the wii remote is that it's a fantastic game to play whilst drunk.
Comedy gold.
I suspect that it's far more down to the fact that it's much easier to directly translate wiimote movements using the Arc than using Natal due to Natal's lack of accelerometers.
Arse gravy.
I do wonder if this will become a bit of a running theme. Sony has positioned itself to be almost a default Wii HD by the adoption of a much more similar take on motion control to Nintendo's own than Microsoft's Natal. Will we see a lot of dual platform releases on Wii and PS3 with Natal requiring a totally different approach to development and, therefore, a lack of support?
Well, the xbox doesn't have a motion controll handset thing, so this doesn't seem like much of a story.
