Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has backed Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to take the top spot on the UK chart this Christmas.
While FIFA 09 headed the chart over the Christmas week in 2008, the bookie expects Activision’s shooter to place ahead of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed II and FIFA 10 this year.
“When the full weight of Activision's marketing machine kicks into gear we’re in no doubt that Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will enjoy the lion's share of the games market this December,” a Paddy Power spokesperson told MCV.
Paddy Power’s odds:
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - 13/8
Assassin’s Creed II - 9/4
FIFA 10 - 6/1
Halo 3: ODST - 10/1
Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Winter Games - 12/1
Wii Fit Plus - 14/1
New Super Mario Bros. Wii - 18/1
Need For Speed: Shift - 18/1
Planet 51: The Game - 20/1
James Cameron's Avatar: The Game - 25/1
cant see the point in a 13/8 bet personally, not worth it at all.
IMO FIFA and Halo would've been out too long by xmas for them to go to number 1, i would say mario and sonic' is prob the best bet with a decent return
Really? Did they just figure this out?
Still not paying 60 notes for it though.
If I had a shiney pound in my pocket to wager with those odds, I think I'd go for either Wii Fit Plus or Fifa. I think it'll probably be MW2, but that'd only win me 63p...
Wii Fit plus at 14/1? That's worth a poke in my book.
Wow, you really can bet on anything. And MW2 in this case is pretty much a lock if they're considering Worldwide sales. Maybe slightly not as much of a lock if it's only considering UK or European sales numbers.
It'll be UK sales.
