Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 developer Infinity Ward has said that the PC version of its record breaking title is outpacing sales of the original Modern Warfare.
While acknowledging that the console versions of its new title were dominating at retail, community manager Robert Bowling dismissed speculation that the PC version had suffered from poor first week sales, noting: “The PC version has done tremendous in it's first week, better than our previous game.
“The PC version of Modern Warfare 2 has actually outsold the PC version of Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in it's first week. Making it the most successful PC version,” he added.
While specific sales figures for the PC version haven’t been released, some had suggested that ill feeling from some sectors of the PC community over Infinity Ward’s decision to drop support for dedicated servers could negatively impact the game’s commercial performance.
For its part, publisher Activision said prior to the title’s release that it wasn’t “overly concerned” by the Modern Warfare 2 PC furore.
