Financial troubles at Dutch independent publisher Playlogic have escalated this week, raising doubts about the firm’s ability to continue.
According to an SEC filing the company has “requested a delay of payments, ‘surseance van betaling’, the Dutch equivalent of Chapter 11, for its subsidiary Playlogic International N.V and her wholly owned subsidiary Playlogic Game Factory B.V”.
Having suffered a net loss of $20.3 million in the year ended December 31, 2009, Fairytale Fights publisher Playlogic detailed its financial woes in a lengthier SEC filing last month. At the time it said that it had started legal proceedings against Koch Media Group, seeking €1.7 million ($2.2m) for “unpaid sales of our products plus damages”.
In its annual report published in May the company also said that it was behind on payments to some of its partners, adding that “some of these vendors have gone legal to collect their outstanding receivables”. It added: “There is substantial doubt about our ability to continue as a going concern. If the company does not obtain any necessary financing, we may need to cease operations.”
