PSP Minis, the range of downloadable, bite-sized games that launched for Sony’s handheld in October, will reportedly be playable on PS3 by the end of the year.

Citing a “handful of reliable sources”, Joystiq suggests that the entire selection of Minis will be available on PS3 “before Christmas”, although Sony’s US arm has labelled the report “rumor or speculation".

If made available on PS3 Minis will certainly be exposed to a wider potential user base, which would likely be Sony’s motivation for such a strategy. It’s unclear how well Minis have been selling, but shortly after launch the platform holder warned publishers to price their titles “carefully” in response to concerns expressed over their cost. Early offerings for the service have been no cheaper than the average PlayStation Network title and more expensive than their iPhone counterparts.

We recently published a feature taking a look at the Minis service, including our pick of the best launch games. You can read it here.

I don't see any harm in everything being available everywhere. Choice is always a good thing!

Why would anyone want to play these types of games on PS3? What a waste of powerful hardware.
