Sony Details Euro PSN Video Delivery Service

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced a list of content partners and movie offerings for its upcoming PlayStation Network video on demand service.

Set to launch later this month in France, Germany, Spain and the UK, with other markets to follow in 2010, the video delivery service will enable users to download content straight to PS3 and PSP.

While pricing details and official launch dates haven’t been confirmed, the video store will house content to buy or rent from movie studios including 20th Century Fox, Disney-ABC-ESPN Television1, Lionsgate2, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Starz Media2, Universal and Warner Bros, with a number of local studios to be announced closer to launch

Films available will include Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs, Hannah Montana: The Movie, Bruno, Angels & Demons, Casino Royale, Crank 2: High Voltage and The Hills Have Eyes.

Sony Computer Entertainment America today announced a number of new content partners for its version of the service, which launched in July 2008.

They will, no doubt, offer only totally butchered versions of the more violent movies on that list as far as Germany is concerned. I would also be surprised if they offered the original language versions. Again, driving a 12 inch nail through your knee is better than listening to uninspired German dubbing efforts that challenge even the worst video games in their lack of quality.
