October marked the highest month of revenue on record for the PlayStation Store, with downloads up 60 per cent year over year, according to Sony Computer Entertainment America.

With the PlayStation Network entering its fourth year this week, the company said that 650 million pieces of content have been downloaded worldwide from the digital marketplace and that there are now over 31 million registered PSN accounts globally.

SCEA also noted that PS3 sales were up nearly 70 per cent in October when compared to the same month in 2008, “making it the only console to experience significant growth year over year”.

Earlier today Sony Computer Entertainment Europe launched its PlayStation Network video delivery service (VDS) in France, Germany, Spain and the UK, enabling users to download thousands of films to PS3 and PSP.

I am not surprised. With the PSP Go release, PS3 sales surge and the continuing market effort behind PSN things are getting better and better. With the video-store now coming up in the EU and more third party applications such as iPlayer, Vidzone etc etc the PSN/PS3/XMB combination is going to be a all in one comprehensive entertainment solution - that I may add is completely free allowing you just to spend on content.
