MMO developer and publisher Trion World Network has appointed former NCsoft West publishing president David Reid as senior vice president of publishing, and ex-Sony Online Entertainment executive Scott Hartsman as chief creative officer and general manager of its Redwood Shores Studio.
Having also previously served as vice president of marketing for GameTap and led the Xbox 360 launch as Microsoft’s director of Xbox global platform marketing, Reid will head Trion’s marketing, sales efforts, corporate communications, brand management and market research.
Hartsman will take on responsibilities for the creative vision and implementation of Trion’s titles. He formerly held key positions throughout Sony Online Entertainment’s EverQuest franchise.
Headquartered in Redwood City, California, and with development and technology studios in Austin, Texas, and San Diego, California, Trion is currently preparing to launch its first set of server-based games. It is developing fantasy MMO Heroes Of Telara and publishing a strategy MMO by independent studio Petroglyph.
The privately held firm has raised over $100 million since its formation in 2006 from investors including Time Warner, NBC-Universal, Bertelsmann, Rustic Canyon and DCM.
